There is a writing frame for children to use the key words to write out the rhyme. There is a set of pictures of different wall patterns that children can observe and talk about before using the shapes (or practical materials) to make their own wall for Humpty. There are 2 shape puzzles where children cut out egg shapes and tangrams and put them back together again.

A resource linked to the story of Little Red Writing Hood. There is a colour version and a black and white version for children to colour in themselves. Sheet 1 shows 4 sequencing cards which can be cut out and ordered. There is space for children to write on. Sheet 2 is the same as sheet 1 in black and white. This resource contains a worksheet for each of the days of the week. It is suitable for SEND, EYFS and KS1 children and uses some symbols. This resource is based on Eric Carle’s amazing book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. The resource shows a colour poster for each day of the week and what the caterpillar ate on each day. There is a black and white set of worksheets based on the posters for children to draw the food for each day, write the word and find the initial sound for the day of the week. Children can check that the food and days match the story itself. Ask them to check Saturday in particular. Did the story specify what flavour the ice cream was? This can be a speaking and listening activity or writing activity. Cut out and laminate the 30 cards showing characters with thought bubbles. The last 3 cards just show thought bubbles and children can add their own characters. Add these to the writing corner for children to use independently with dry markers. Children write in the thought bubble a word or phrase that the character may be thinking. They can expand on this in discussions. Characters range from adults and children with varied expressions and emotions. Links in with emotions and feelings topics. A nice follow up activity is for each child in class to choose a card and then in turn they say the name of the character and what they are thinking e.g. my name is Henry the snowman and I am thinking that if anyone else tries to take my carrot nose, then I will throw this snowball at them!

A bright power point for children linked to initial sounds and your fruit topic work. There are 20 slides each showing a different fruit. Running along the bottom of each slide is the alphabet. Children name the fruits and talk about them and then find the first sounds for each one, using the alphabet strip to help them.
